ITHER SCOTLAND

Most if not all of Scotland has been touched by Burns. Beginning with Dunnottar where Burns grandfather was a small tenant farmer at Clochranhill Farm where he built a schoolhouse out of clay as he was a believer in learning.

Jean Armour was sent to Paisley when she was pregnant with her first child to Burns. Her parents lied that she was going to marry a Paisley weaver. Today, there is a statue of Burns located at Fountain Gardens in Paisley.

In 1795 Burns was said to be holed up at an Inn in Ecclefechan during a snowstorm. Here he encountered Jean Scott and inscribed the window pane with lines of her.

Other Scotland links include when Burns stayed overnight in Biggar, his visits to Dalkeith and also The Black Bull Inn Moffat and how he is honoured in Galashiels, Prestonpans and St. Andrews today ...

Ye Scots wha' wish auld Scotland well!
Ye chief, to you my tale I tell
Poor plackless devils like mysel!
It sets you ill ...
